Hinckley and District Museum is housed in the recently re-thatched cottages, which date from the 17th century. The collections illustrate a variety of the town and district’s history each season.
See the framework knitter’s cottage room setting with the c1740 knitting machine, and the original ‘Tin Hat’ from which the residents of Hinckley derived the nickname of ‘Tinhatters’.
Enjoy the delightful cottage garden and our tearoom serving light refreshments with a choice of Fairtrade drinks and snacks.
The museum is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers. We are always seeking new volunteers to greet visitors, serve refreshments and maintain our garden.
