Our aim is to research, preserve and promote Leicestershire’s road transport heritage, be it bus, coach, tram, truck, van, car or cycles. Our aspiration is a permanent museum and we are making notable progress in realising this exciting objective.
We are great believers in the importance of the social aspect of transport heritage because it is very much about the people that made the industry work and thrive, in addition to the equipment they used to achieve this. How public transport transformed Leicester and the lives of people who lived and worked there.
Trust members have the opportunity to get involved in vehicle restoration, archive related work or representing the Trust at community events if they wish to do so. The Trust occasionally opens the former Stoneygate District Tram Depot, an important Edwardian building.
The Trust provides speakers and sells publications.
